The Clondalkin Campaign of the Household and Water Taxes will holding a series of public meetings in relation to the self assessment letters which were issued by Revenue. Since last week Revenue have been sending out notifications to property owners in what they maybe liable to pay when the charge is introduced in July.
People Before Profit Councillor Gino Kenny who is spokesperson for the campaign in Clondalkin said,
“People will be receiving their letters from revenue over the course of the next two weeks. People’s initial instinct is fear because of the involvement of revenue. What we are telling people is to hold firm and ignore any correspondences with revenue and maintain the boycott of these stealth taxes.”
“Over thirty five Percent of householders in the Clondalkin area refused to pay the household charge that was introduced a precursor to the property tax. These series of public meetings are to inform people on why their is alternative to this grossly unfair tax on her family home”
