PBP TD expresses concern with Clonburris SDZ

Dublin Mid West TD Gino Kenny has expressed concern regarding the new Strategic Development Zone in Clonburris. South Dublin County Council has revealed that the new planning framework will be published in September. 30% of the land in the area is owned by SDCC while the rest is owned by a number of land owners.

Gino Kenny said: “The comments from SDCC regarding the public land in Clonburris being used mainly for parkland is very disappointing. Effectively, this means that there will be very few social and affordable housing units built in Clonburris. This is one of the few remaining pieces of land in public ownership in the Dublin Mid West area, which should be used for housing construction for the many thousands who are in desperate need of housing.”

Cllr Madeleine Johansson said: “People Before Profit made a submission to the pre draft planning consultation process where we addressed the need for social housing. We also pointed out the need for improved public transport in the area as well as community facilities and amenities. We can’t end up with another situation like Adamstown where people have been left for years without the facilities they were promised.”
